Making your own chocolate pudding is a terrific way to reduce your waste! I’m currently on a quest to reduce my waste as much as possible so I decided it was good timing to revisit the chocolate pudding recipe from my childhood. Chocolat pudding is a classic and it’s suprisingly easy to make! When served with fresh fruit, it makes an amazing dessert.
Pouding au chocolat végane/ Vegan Chocolate Pudding
Recette originale /Original Recipe : Ma mère ou ma soeur (recette de mon enfance). / My mom or sister (recipe from my growing-up years).
Ingrédients
90 ml sucre (équitable lorsque possible) / sugar (Fair Trade when possible)
45 ml fécule de maïs / cornstarch
30 ml poudre de cacao / cocoa powder
500 ml boisson de noix de coco (ou lait de soja) / coconut beverage (or soy milk)
5 ml extrait de vanille / vanilla extract
Instructions
- Dans une petite casserole, mélanger ensemble le sucre, la fécule de maïs et le cacao. Ajouter la boisson de noix de coco et la vanille et bien mélanger (avec un fouet). / In a small pot, mix together the sugar, cornstarch and cocoa powder. Add the coconut beverage and vanilla extract and mix well (with a whisk).
- Faire chauffer à feu moyen-vif jusqu’à ébullition. Brasser constamment jusqu’à l’obtention de la consistance désirée (consistance pouding). / Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring constantly. Continue to heat until it turns into pudding (or desired consistency).
- Verser dans 4 petits pots (les pots Mason de 250 ml sont parfaits) et réfrigérer au moins 30 minutes (ou déguster chaud!). / Pour into 4 small containers (250 ml Mason jars are ideal for this) and refrigerate for 30 minutes (or have it warm!).
